S.W.A.T. Team Retreat

July 16 - 17, 2006

The Ohio SWAT Team met July 16-17 in Columbus for a retreat. The 13 teens from around Ohio represented Ohio 4-H and military youth from different branches of the service. First, they enjoyed some get-acquainted time, including a visit to COSI. They practiced public speaking and presentation skills, and using the Operation: Military Kids Mobile Technology Lab, they wrote letters to American Legion representatives and worked on PowerPoint presentations. The retreat concluded with a visit to the Ohio State House and the opportunity to meet with Senate President Bill Harris. They will be implementing their action plans to raise awareness in their communities about the issues of suddenly military youth who live throughout Ohio.
